Where can I find a college scholarship?
Written by admin on March 26th, 2009
I can not afford college on my own. I am currently looking for some sort of scholarship in hopes of reaching my dream to attend a 4 year university next year. My grades are not anything special a 2.6 at a college prep highschool and a 20 on the ACT. I’m looking for something more non-academic. Any help would be great!

Check with your guidance counselor.
Also Fastwebs.com and scholarships.com are sites used to find scholarships.
Do you have a talent? There are scholarships for people good in art, music, and of course sports. Just look around you and if all else fails theres nothing wrong with taking out a student loan.

Get to the library or talk to your hs counselor. It is possible to get financial assistance, depending on what you want to study, where you go to school, and there are many local scholarships & prizes in every community. I helped a person get a scholarship to go to farrier(blacksmiths) school and several clubs like rotary & AAUW offer money to locals.
Do you have any skill, such as sports or music, that could lead to a scholarship? Parents or grandparents place of employment, union or associations often offer money to children.
Apply, bug the financial aid officer at the school you want to attend, keep an eye out for local money. Good Luck

Depending on how you feel about it, the Army Reserve offers some substantial education benefits. Obviously there is commitment involved. If you are not into the whole military thing, maybe one of your parents were, and if they still have their GI Bill benefits, beginning in August of 2009, they are eligible to give them to you.
